Political Spectrum
In this performance piece London and Leicester based performance artists will be posing as two political parties, Azure and Vermillion. They will be fighting for your vote in the election at campaign tents around the carnival. All the manifesto ideas and placards were created during the Cosmopolitan Arts summer school by 5-13 year olds and we reckon they did a better job than parliament!

TRADITIONAL CHINESE CRAFTS
The Confucius Institute will be introducing a series of traditional Chinese crafts including brush painting, calligraphy, Chinese knot making and paper folding. Chinese brush painting is an ancient art, steeped in history, symbolism and ritual. Calligraphy uses similar techniques to brush painting but is dedicated specifically to Chinese writing. A look at Chinese paper cutting and paper folding will help give further insight into the traditions of Chinese crafts. Paper cutting is a Chinese traditional skill for females mainly done during the Spring Festival and for Weddings. Chinese zodiac symbols are usually chosen as subjects for the paper cutting.
